MARTA just revealed its newest rail cars, promising more comfort, safety, and convenience for Atlanta riders. The sleek, next-gen trains were introduced at the State of MARTA 2025 event, giving locals and officials a first look at the upgrades coming soon.
Built by Stadler US, the new trains feature open gangways that let passengers move freely between cars and wider doors that speed up boarding. They also include real-time digital updates, accessible seating, and improved safety features to make rides smoother and more secure.
MARTA’s CEO, Collie Greenwood, shared plans to boost service by increasing train frequency during rush hours and upgrading major stations across the system. Expansion efforts are also in the works to keep up with Atlanta’s fast-growing population and transit demands.
Testing of the new rail cars is set to begin later this year, with full service expected in early 2026. This upgrade marks an important step toward a faster, more reliable transit experience for everyone in Atlanta.
