The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) has just unveiled its newest addition to the city’s transit system—brand-new rail cars designed to improve comfort, safety, and convenience for passengers. The sleek, next-generation trains were showcased at the State of MARTA 2025 event to give community members and officials a glimpse of what’s to come.
These updated trains, built by Stadler US, are equipped with several new features that will make travel smoother and faster.

Open gangways allow passengers to move easily between cars, while wider doors speed up boarding. Real-time digital updates, accessible seating, and enhanced safety features also make the ride more convenient and secure.
In addition to the new trains, MARTA is focusing on improving service with more frequent trains during peak hours and major station upgrades. Expansion plans are also on the horizon, aimed at keeping up with Atlanta’s growing population and transit needs.

MARTA plans to begin testing these new rail cars later this year, with full service expected in early 2026. This marks the beginning of an exciting chapter for the city’s transit system, as officials aim to provide a faster, more reliable commute for passengers across Atlanta.
