Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is making waves across federal agencies, with its latest stop at the Atlanta headquarters of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Wednesday. According to The Washington Post, DOGE representatives requested a list of employees who have been on the job for less than a year or are still on probation.

The timing raised eyebrows as the visit coincided with a protest near the Georgia State Capitol, where demonstrators rallied against actions taken by both President Donald Trump and Musk.

DOGE, formed through an executive order on Trump’s first day in office, replaced the U.S. Digital Service and is tasked with modernizing federal technology while cutting wasteful spending.

Though not an official agency, its members hold special government employee status, allowing them to access sensitive data upon request. Initially focused on USAID, DOGE has expanded to agencies like the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the Labor Department, where protests erupted this week following Musk’s involvement.

Trump addressed concerns earlier this week, assuring that Musk operates under White House oversight, stating, “Elon can’t do and won’t do anything without our approval.”
