Dwight Howard is looking to offload his jaw-dropping Suwanee estate, and he’s got an eye-catching price tag to match. The former NBA star has listed his 32,000-square-foot mansion, Rose Hill Estate, for $11.25 million.

Located on 14 acres near Suwanee Dam Road, this European-style mansion isn’t just big—it overflows with luxury. Builders completed the home in 2010 for a reported $40 million, packing it with 10 bedrooms, 12 full baths, and six fully equipped kitchens. The primary suite treats its owner to two fireplaces, a private balcony, and lavish separate baths and closets.

The property is designed for entertainment. A home theater, game room, gym, and heated saltwater pool are just the beginning. There’s also a half-court basketball setup, a private lake with a dock, and a garage spacious enough for over 10 cars.

Howard, an Atlanta native, made his mark early in basketball. After starring at Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy, he skipped college and entered the 2004 NBA draft, where he was the first overall pick. His career spanned multiple teams, including the Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Lakers, and Atlanta Hawks.

Soaring Egg Prices Hit Local Restaurants Leaving Customers Shocked

Breakfast just got more expensive. Local restaurants in Atlanta are feeling the pinch of soaring egg prices, and many are passing the cost on to customers. Many local diners are adding extra charges to egg dishes to offset the rising costs—a direct result of the nationwide egg shortage.

The price spike stems from an ongoing bird flu outbreak that has devastated poultry farms. Since 2022, millions of egg-laying hens have died or been culled, leaving grocery stores struggling to keep shelves stocked.

Watch this CBS Mornings report for more

The U.S. Department of Agriculture expects egg prices to climb another 20% in 2025, with farm-level eggs like free-range varieties jumping even higher. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the cost of a dozen large eggs hit $4.15 in December, up from $3.65 the previous month.

Free-range and cage-free options are even pricier. Some stores are limiting how many cartons customers can buy, while others simply can’t keep eggs in stock.

On top of supply issues, a shortage of refrigerated truck drivers is making matters worse. With fewer drivers available, shipping costs have risen, adding another layer to the price surge.

Atlanta rapper YFN Lucci, born Rayshawn Bennett, was released from Burress Correctional Training Center on January 31, 2025, after serving nearly four years. His release comes after he pleaded guilty in January 2024 to one count under Georgia’s gang statute, receiving a 20-year sentence with 10 years in prison and 10 on probation. However, credit for time served and a letter of support from Fulton County DA Fani Willis helped secure his early parole.

In 2024, prosecutors dropped 12 of the 13 charges against him, including murder, and he publicly apologized in court.

The Newton County Sheriff’s Office has received a $150,000 federal grant to purchase two bloodhound dogs and hundreds of scent kits to aid in the search for missing people.

The initiative comes at a critical time, with rising concerns about the number of missing individuals, particularly children with autism and seniors with dementia. The sheriff’s office, in collaboration with local schools, is distributing scent kits that capture a person’s unique smell.

In partnership with Scent Evidence K9, the Sheriff’s office also organized a three-day essential training session from January 28 to 30 for first responders, clinicians, educators and parents having children with autism, dementia as part of awareness campaign.

These kits can be used in emergencies to track missing individuals, especially those who wander off unnoticed. The kits are available for free to families in the community, thanks to the federal funding.

The sheriff’s office has also added an 11-month-old bloodhound, Petra, to its team. Petra is trained to track scents and locate missing persons quickly, a skill that has been honed over centuries in bloodhounds.

Currently, only Newton, Banks, and Liberty counties in Georgia are using these kits, but the hope is to expand the program further.

With statistics showing that over half of children with autism and 60% of people with dementia go missing at least once in their lifetime, this new tool aims to save lives and offer peace of mind to families in the area.

Miguel Almiron Leaves Newcastle to Rejoin Atlanta United in $10m Deal

Miguel Almiron is heading back to Atlanta United in a permanent move worth $10 million, bringing his time at Newcastle United to an end. The Paraguayan winger, who joined the Magpies in 2019 for a then-club record $24 million, struggled to secure regular playing time under Eddie Howe this season.

Almiron played a key role in Newcastle’s recent success, helping them reach the Carabao Cup final and secure a top-four Premier League finish in 2022-23.

He also made an impact in the Champions League, scoring against Paris Saint-Germain in a memorable 4-1 victory. However, his influence has faded, and his recent farewell gesture to fans signaled an inevitable departure.

With 30 goals in 223 appearances for Newcastle, Almiron leaves behind a solid legacy, but the timing feels right for a fresh start. His return to Atlanta United reunites him with the club where he made his name in Major League Soccer before making the leap to England.

Atlanta United, competing in the Eastern Conference, will welcome Almiron back as they gear up for the 2025 MLS season, which kicks off on February 22. His return could provide the spark the team needs as they look to contend for silverware once again.

A former assistant basketball coach for Alabama A&M and the University of Alabama, Sammy Jackson, was found shot to death Wednesday near Atlanta, just days after being reported missing. Jackson, 59, had a distinguished career, including coaching at Alabama A&M and Fort Valley State University, and playing for the University of Montevallo in the early 1980s.

His disappearance began when his wife reported him missing on Monday. The Atlanta Police Department (APD) said in the press release that Jackson’s car was discovered abandoned in a parking lot in Bonaire, Georgia, with items scattered inside.  Authorities were led to Jackson’s body in Atlanta on Wednesday after his son confirmed the tragic news.

Investigators are still piecing together the details of his death, with many questions left unanswered, including whether the killing was a random act of violence.

Jackson’s sister posted a heartbreaking message expressing her disbelief, questioning why her brother had to die when he was known for his generosity. The family is left devastated by this loss, as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding his untimely death.
