Gas prices across the United States have reached $4 per gallon, marking the highest national average since 2022.
In Atlanta, prices remain below that mark, with regular gas in the high $3 range and some stations nearing $4.
One factor keeping prices lower in Georgia is the temporary suspension of the state gas tax by Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, which has helped offset some of the increase.
The recent rise is driven by higher global oil costs, pushing fuel prices up nationwide.
Atlanta drivers last saw gas prices exceed $4 during peak periods in 2022. While Georgia remains below the national average, the gap continues to narrow.
If the trend continues, Atlanta could see gas prices reach $4 again in the coming weeks.
