An old video of Anthony Edwards meeting comedian DC Young Fly as a kid has resurfaced, showing the Atlanta native saying he would make it to the NBA years before it became a reality.
In the clip, a 12-year-old Edwards tells DC Young Fly that he is going to make it to the NBA.
Edwards grew up in Atlanta and attended Jean Childs Young Middle School, where he helped lead the basketball team to back-to-back championships. He was also a standout youth football player before turning his focus to basketball.
Edwards later attended Therrell High School before transferring to Holy Spirit Prep, where he became one of the nation’s top basketball prospects.
He played one season at the University of Georgia before the Minnesota Timberwolves selected him No. 1 overall in the 2020 NBA Draft. He has since become one of the league’s top players, earning multiple All-Star selections and leading the Timberwolves on deep playoff runs.
DC Young Fly shared the throwback on Instagram with the caption, “Ant really manifested it 🥹.” The clip has drawn attention online, giving fans a look back at Edwards years before he became an NBA star.
