Major League Baseball has suspended Atlanta Braves pitcher Reynaldo López and Los Angeles Angels slugger Jorge Soler for seven games each following a benches-clearing brawl during Tuesday night’s game.

They were also fined an undisclosed amount. No other players were suspended.

The fight started in the fifth inning after López threw a high-and-inside pitch. Soler, who had already been hit earlier, had words with him before charging the mound. A benches-clearing brawl followed, with López still holding the baseball as he threw punches.

Players from both dugouts and bullpens rushed onto the field as tensions escalated, and López and Soler were ejected.

They have appealed their suspensions, which are now on hold, allowing them to continue playing while their appeals are reviewed.

Atlanta went on to defeat Los Angeles 7-2.
