DeKalb County officer shot while serving a warrant on Glenwood Road, suspect Tremagne McCluskey in custody

A DeKalb County police officer was shot Thursday evening while assisting Cobb County authorities in serving an arrest warrant for a suspect wanted in an armed robbery case, according to the DeKalb County Police Department.

The shooting happened around 5 p.m. near Glenwood Road and Shamrock Drive as officers attempted to serve the warrant. Police say the suspect, Tremagne McCluskey, opened fire and struck an officer.

The officer was grazed in the head by a bullet and taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. She is reported to be stable and alert.

A large police response shut down traffic in the area as officers, including SWAT teams, searched near the Midwood Glen apartment complex. McCluskey was taken into custody shortly before 9 p.m. after a manhunt that lasted nearly four hours.

McCluskey now faces a charge of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer in DeKalb County, in addition to existing charges from Cobb County of armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Authorities said the shooting occurred during a confrontation but did not provide further details. The name of the injured officer has not been released.

Officers remained on scene as two people were believed to be barricaded inside an apartment.

This is a developing story.
