Video shared with ATL Uncensored shows the victim and another man arguing with the suspect, who can be seen holding a knife in each hand, before the confrontation escalated. Police said the victim and suspect did not know each other.

The suspect, 54-year-old Jonathan Hamby, was taken into custody at the scene. Police also recovered what they said was the knife used in the attack.

Hamby has been charged with murder, aggravated assault, possession of a knife during the commission of a felony and terroristic threats. Records show he has more than 30 previous arrests and was on probation at the time of the stabbing.

Sunday’s stabbing was the second deadly stabbing on the Atlanta Beltline in about three months. In May, 23-year-old Alyssa Paige was stabbed and killed on the Northeast Trail near Flagler Avenue.

During a press conference Sunday evening, Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum said there was no ongoing threat to people using the Beltline. The investigation remains ongoing.
