
UPDATE: Atlanta police said the man wanted in the fatal stabbing on the Atlanta Beltline was taken into custody after an hours long manhunt. Officers spotted the bicycle he was riding near Peachtree Street. His identity has not been released.
Atlanta police are searching for a man accused of fatally stabbing a woman along the Atlanta Beltline in northeast Atlanta who they believe may also be connected to another nearby attack Thursday afternoon.
According to the Atlanta Police Department, officers responded to a stabbing on the Atlanta Beltline near the Montgomery Ferry Drive overpass.
Before officers arrived, EMS transported a woman suffering from stab wounds to Grady Hospital, where she later died from her injuries despite lifesaving efforts.
APD released surveillance images of the suspect riding a bicycle in the area. Investigators said the suspect may also be connected to a separate attack involving a U.S. Postal Service employee at a nearby post office earlier in the day.
Investigators believe the attacks were random and said the suspect may be experiencing a mental health crisis. His identity has not been released.
Officers, K9 units, drones, and helicopters searched the area throughout the afternoon as police continued searching for the suspect.
