Nearly 500 workers at Stone Mountain Park are set to lose their jobs as the park undergoes a major operational transition ahead of the summer season. A federal WARN filing shows 497 employees will be laid off effective June 1.

The decision comes after the park’s current operator, Thrive SMP LLC, agreed to exit its contract early following financial losses.

The layoffs affect a wide range of roles across the park, from frontline staff to management. The announcement raises concerns about job stability and operations at one of Georgia’s most visited attractions.

A new operator, Stone Mountain Hospitality LLC, a subsidiary of Aramark, is expected to take over. It remains unclear how many current employees will be rehired as the transition nears.

The change comes just as the park approaches its peak summer season, leaving hundreds of workers facing uncertainty.
